We say that we built Olive IRL to be deleted. You find your person, you leave. That's the whole point. What we haven't been clear enough about is what actually happens to your data when you do.
So here's that explanation.
When you delete your account
- 1Your profile is removed from the app immediately. You're no longer visible to anyone.
- 2Your matches lose access to your profile. Your conversations go with you.
- 3Within 30 days, your data is permanently deleted: profile information, photos, messages, and match history.
- 4We don't retain it for advertising. We don't sell it. It's gone.

What we keep, and why

Neither of these includes your profile content, your photos, or your messages.
Data export before you leave
If you want a copy of your data before deleting, email support@oliveirl.com and request a data export. We'll send your information within 15 business days. No reason required.
Pausing instead of leaving
If you found someone and want to step back without fully deleting, you can pause your profile from Settings. Your account stays intact, you're removed from the match pool, and you can return any time. Nothing is deleted.
If you're done, delete. We won't try to keep you.
