1. Who we are

Olive IRL is a Christian dating application built and operated by an independent developer based in the Philippines. Olive IRL is available worldwide on the Apple App Store.

We are subject to the Republic Act No. 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) of the Philippines. We also comply with Apple's App Store privacy requirements and, where applicable, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Economic Area.

2. Our data philosophy

We built Olive IRL with one goal: help you find your person and delete the app. That goal shapes everything about how we handle your data.

We collect the minimum data needed to run the service. We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not want to keep it longer than necessary.

Faith information is sensitive. We treat it that way.

4. Faith information

Your faith tradition and related profile information are considered sensitive personal data under Philippine and international privacy law.

We collect this only because it is the core purpose of Olive IRL. You provide it voluntarily. It is used only to power matching and display your profile to compatible people. It is never shared with advertisers or data companies.

5. Apple and third-party services

Olive IRL is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store. Certain interactions are also governed by Apple's privacy practices:

  • Sign in with Apple: Apple shares only your email (or a private relay address). We receive no additional data from Apple about you.
  • Apple Push Notifications (APNs): Your device token is stored securely and used only to send alerts you have opted into.
  • App Store billing: All Olive IRL+ subscription payments are handled entirely by Apple. We never see or store your payment information.

Other services:

  • Supabase: Database and authentication. Processes data only on our behalf under strict confidentiality.
  • Agora: Real-time video and audio for in-app calls. Audio and video are transmitted peer-to-peer and are not recorded or stored by Olive IRL.
  • Resend: Used internally for admin moderation alerts. Not used for any user-facing email — your OTP codes and account emails are sent directly by Supabase Auth.
  • Giphy: Powers the GIF picker in chat. Search queries are sent to Giphy's API. Giphy's own privacy policy applies to this interaction.

None of these providers are permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

6. How we use your information

  • To create and maintain your account
  • To show you compatible profiles based on faith and preferences
  • To enable messaging between matched users
  • To send push notifications for matches and messages (only if you allow them)
  • To enforce community standards and investigate reports
  • To improve the app
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for advertising, behavioral tracking, or sale to any third party. Ever.

7. Location

Olive IRL requests location access to show you people nearby. We store only your approximate city, never your precise GPS coordinates. Your exact location is never shared with other users or third parties. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.

8. Data retention

When you delete your account:

  • Your profile, photos, prompts, matches, and messages are permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Push notification tokens are removed immediately
  • Ban records may be retained for up to 1 year for safety and legal compliance

You can delete your account from Settings → Delete Account inside the app.

9. Your rights

Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act and other applicable laws, you have the right to:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: request that inaccurate data be corrected
  • Deletion: request deletion of your account and data (also available in-app)
  • Portability: download a copy of your data directly from Settings → Download My Data inside the app (JSON format, instant)
  • Object: object to certain types of processing
  • Withdraw consent: at any time, including by deleting your account

Contact us at support@oliveirl.com. We respond within 15 business days. Philippine users may also contact the National Privacy Commission at privacy.gov.ph. EEA/UK users may contact their local data protection authority.

10. Children

Olive IRL is for users 18 and older only. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we discover an underage user, we immediately delete their account and all associated data.

11. Security

We use encrypted data transmission (TLS), row-level database security, and secure token-based authentication. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate steps to protect your information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use of Olive IRL after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
